Caramundo is pleased to announce that the R.U.A. Art Tour in Rotterdam is now open for subscription. Groups of ten or more people can do a guided tour along the art of R.U.A. – Refelxo on Urban Art Festival.
The R.U.A. Art Tour
The meters high buildings painted by well-known young Brazilian graffiti- and street artists, aren’t merely paintings spread around town, they tell a story that goes far back to the early 70’s in New York and the 90’s of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, where youths marked their opinion about society and there existence in a huge anonymous urban world.
One of our experienced colleagues will introduce the tour with background information on graffiti in general, graffiti in Brazil, graffiti as a tool for alternative education in slums in development countries, and graffiti as the beginning of a career in art, fashion design, animation or illustration.
In the presentation we will also focus on the possibilities to use graffiti to upgrade dark and neglected urban areas as well as to see it as a means to stimulate crime prevention.
These masterpieces of art refute the generalized opinion that exists about graffiti as vandalism, and show us the positive impact of art in public space, and the construction of a safe environment for the inhabitants of big cities.
Graffiti a team-building activity
As an addition to the tour, Caramundo offers a special graffiti workshop. Caramundo has organized graffiti workshops for corporate enterprises in the past. The result has always been a very positive eye opener and inspiring. In the workshops the basic techniques of design and painting are explained and depending on the capacities of the group a big ‘piece’ is made for the office. It is also possible for every individual participant to make his/her own art.

The many young people that grow up without adequate education, leisure and artistic orientation, find themselves through the workshops organized by our partners.
